Summary

RMC No. 40-2005 prescribes the standard invoice format for the Tollway Industry, based on Section 6 of Revenue Regulations (RR) No. 11-2004.

Key points

  1. Required data. A standard tollway receipt shows, among others: business name, registered taxpayer’s name with BIR, Taxpayer’s Identification Number (12 digits including branch code), address where the machine will be used, receipt/invoice number (minimum of 6 digits), Machine Model Accreditation Number, date of transaction, quantity (distance from point to point), product description, amount of transaction, and the words “THIS SERVES AS AN OFFICIAL RECEIPT”.
  2. Header. The business name, registered taxpayer’s name, TIN and address are printed consecutively in the Official Receipt Header.
  3. VAT presentation. Under the existing VAT Law, the invoice amount includes VAT. Under the new VAT Law (Republic Act 9337), which is temporarily suspended by a Supreme Court Temporary Restraining Order, VAT is shown as a separate item.
  4. Invoice size. The size depends on the requirement of the particular toll operator.
