Key points
- Qualification standards. The BIR adopts the Qualification Standard of the Civil Service Commission and may add specific requirements for the job. The standards for the unique Revenue Officer positions in Assessment, Collection, Excise, Document Processor, Tax Assistance and Intelligence/Special Investigator groups are maintained.
- Publication of vacancies. Vacant positions marked for filling are published under Republic Act No. 7041. They are also posted in at least 3 conspicuous places in the Bureau for 10 calendar days.
- Screening of candidates. The National Selection Board screens candidates for the National Office and the Regional Selection Board for the Regional Office. Candidates need an Average rating in all aspects of the employment tests, and the line-up has at least three candidates per vacancy.
- Validity of results. Test results and applications for employment are valid for one year.
- Preference among equal candidates. If qualifications are comparatively equal, preference goes to a candidate with outstanding accomplishments, special awards or citations, job-related training beyond what is required, or relevant advanced education beyond what is required.
