Key points

  1. Uniform schedule. Male employees wear black pants with a white barong on Monday and Wednesday, and with a blue barong on Tuesday and Thursday. Female employees wear black pants or skirt with a mocha blouse on Monday and Wednesday, and with an aquamarine blouse on Tuesday and Thursday. Friday is Washday.
  2. Exemptions and special uniforms. Officials such as Assistant Commissioners, Regional Directors, Revenue District Officers and Division Chiefs are exempt, as are lawyers who attend court hearings. Doctors, dentists and nurses of the Medical, Dental and Welfare Division may wear white uniforms.
  3. Attire rules. CSC Resolution No. 002515 applies. On days without a uniform, employees wear appropriate business attire, and certain items such as sando, tank-tops, leggings and rubber sandals are prohibited. Maternity dress and mourning clothes are allowed.
  4. ID and enforcement. The employee ID is worn at all times inside BIR premises under a No Uniform, No ID, No Entry policy. Violators are listed by ISD/SID and must submit a written explanation under oath within five (5) days from receipt of a show cause letter. Non-compliance without justifiable reason is treated as absence.
  5. Penalties. Persistent violators face administrative action: reprimand for the 1st offense, suspension for one (1) to thirty (30) days for the 2nd offense, and dismissal for the 3rd offense.
